Featherweight Beast: Billy Picks Up His Ultra-Light Camaro from Tin Soldier Race Cars!

Take a look at this Featherweight Beast: Billy Picks Up His Ultra-Light Camaro from Tin Soldier Race Cars!

After months of anticipation and a two-hour road trip, Billy and his team finally picked up their small tire Camaro from Tin Soldier Race Cars—and the results exceeded all expectations.

The reunion with the freshly built Camaro was filled with excitement, admiration, and a bit of shock. Seeing the car fully assembled for the first time, Billy couldn’t hide his enthusiasm. From a newly ordered chin spoiler to plans for chrome-wrapped bumpers, the Camaro’s look is as aggressive as its purpose. But what truly left the crew speechless was the weight.

As guesses were tossed around—ranging from 2,630 to 2,650 lbs—it turned out the Camaro came in at a jaw-dropping 2,478 lbs with Billy in the seat. With a build featuring all-chromoly tubing, aluminum panels, Lexan windows, fiberglass doors, and a fiberglass front end, the car is a feather in racing terms. It even boasts titanium four-link bars for maximum weight savings.

To put it into perspective, Billy’s other car, the Nova, weighs over 3,000 lbs with him inside. That makes this Camaro roughly 600 pounds lighter, yet it’s set to make more power. The implications for performance are massive—every 200 pounds equates to roughly a tenth of a second in the eighth mile. That means a 4.80-second tune-up in the Nova could easily go 4.50 in this new setup.

The team continued dialing in the setup, adding weight to the rear to balance the car to nearly a perfect 50/50 weight distribution, essential for no-prep racing. Even with 70 lbs in the rear and parachutes yet to be mounted, the Camaro remained incredibly light at around 2,550 lbs.

Billy also confirmed he’ll be jumping into small tire racing this weekend, driving Ryan’s blue Nova. Friendly competition and trash talk sparked laughs, with Billy confident in his ability to “cut heads off on the tree.”

Beyond the tech talk and performance numbers, the video offered a glimpse into the passion and teamwork behind the scenes. Billy shared updates on another build, “Charlie Brown,” and expressed gratitude for Tony’s expertise in identifying engine issues. The spirit of community and collaboration was evident throughout.

As the video wrapped up, Billy reflected on why the Camaro hadn’t been picked up sooner. Life happens, and sometimes race cars take a backseat—but now that it’s home, the focus is clear: this Camaro is built for victory.

With a grin and a promise, Billy ended with confidence: “The Camaro will be in the winner’s circle.”
