Kye Kelley First Dirt Track Race Was a Shockwave of Fans, Chaos & Pure Southern Horsepower!

Take a look at this, Kye Kelley First Dirt Track Race Was a Shockwave of Fans, Chaos & Pure Southern Horsepower!

When Kye Kelley bought a beaten-down dirt track in Mississippi, nobody expected a miracle in a month. The plan was simple: fix it slowly, hunt a little, enjoy the winter. But once the fresh paint hit the walls, the team saw something bigger — a chance to resurrect Pike County Speedway and bring dirt racing back to life.

What happened next blew them away.

A Track on Life Support — and a Crew Working 18-Hour Days

For nearly two months straight, Kye, Puddin’, and the whole KKR crew put in 17–18 hour days, patching walls, fixing bathrooms, painting grandstands, replacing water lines, and fighting nonstop mud and storms.
They were exhausted — but determined.

Originally, the track wasn’t supposed to open until next year.
Instead, they circled November 21st on the calendar and said:

“Let’s send it.”

And send it… they did.

The Dirt Community Showed Up BIG — A Turnout Nobody Expected

On race night, something unbelievable happened. Fans flooded the gates in numbers this track had never seen before.

  • 156 cars — the most in track history

  • A 10-acre field packed end-to-end

  • Cars parked all the way down Highway 568 and Highway 51

  • Overflow parking across the interstate

  • The sheriff even showed up threatening to tow vehicles

  • School buses running nonstop just to shuttle fans

Kye looked up into the stands at one point — and the emotion hit.

“I had tears in my eyes. Everything we imagined… it was happening.”

The locals, the dirt racers, the families — they didn’t just show up…
They took over the place.

Chaos, Comedy & a Whole Lot of Puddin’ 🚜🔥

Behind the scenes? It was total madness.

The team was doing everything:

  • unplugging toilets

  • cooking cheeseburgers

  • chasing kids out of the bathrooms

  • guarding delicate water lines

  • fixing broken stalls

  • running the wrecker

  • keeping cars moving

  • putting out fires — literally and figuratively

And then there was Puddin’, who found his calling as the official wrecker pilot… and the unofficial concession-stand profit booster because:

“It takes him so long to clear the cars, people end up buying more cheeseburgers.”

He also accidentally ran over hundreds of dollars worth of fireworks.
So next year’s firework safety plan is: “Don’t let Puddin’ near them.”

The Legendary “Green Tire Trophy” — A New Tradition Is Born

Hit the one giant green tire on the track?

Congrats — you get a trophy.

No joke.

Rodney Wing, legendary dirt racer, hit it on his very first lap in a brand-new street-stock car. Folded the whole front end.
But then he clawed from the back to finish strong.

That’s dirt-track racing, baby.

Kye Kelley’s Daughter Debuts — and Steals the Show

One of the night’s most heartwarming moments came when Kye’s young daughter jumped in a go-kart.

Her first race.
Her first night on dirt.
Her first real test.

She brought home second place.

The crew believes she’s a natural — and Kye smiled like a proud dad every lap.

Future Plans: Big Races Every Other Weekend + Mardi Gras Throwdown

Kye made it official:

Pike County Speedway will host big races every other weekend starting next year.

First major event?

🎭 A Mardi Gras DirtFest in February
(Exact date coming soon — after checking the Farmer’s Almanac for the least miserable weather.)

The track is alive.
The fans are hungry.
And Kye is ready to build something huge.

KKR Shop Update — Dirt Cars, Jang Lang, and the Road to PRI

Back in the shop:

  • They’re rebuilding Jang Lang for true 105s

  • Uncle Larry is getting ready to shake up the Pro Mod world

  • They have two dirt cars, one of which Rodney Wing is racing again

  • Kye is trying to squeeze in hunting but… PRI is coming

  • Puddin’ is begging for PRI to be moved to Florida so he doesn’t freeze

And yes — Kye admitted the dirt track makes him better on asphalt.
He’s getting sideways on both surfaces now.

The Toyota Tacoma Giveaway — FINAL DAY

Kye reminds fans:
Today is the last day to enter for the ProCharged Toyota Tacoma giveaway.

Every $5 spent on merch = 1 entry.

They showcased the shirts, hoodies, and the special KKR dirt-track designs — including Puddin’ eating crayons on a shirt (a fan favorite).

A Community-Built Miracle — Pike County Speedway Lives Again

This wasn’t just a race.
It was a revival.

A forgotten dirt track now stands roaring with life again.
Families came out. Racers packed the pits. Outsiders supported locals.
And the KKR team proved that heart and hustle can outperform money and time.

Kye summed it up best in his closing speech:

“This is everything we imagined… and I appreciate it more than y’all know.”

Southern racing isn’t dead.
It’s just getting started.
