We have talked about safety too many times to remember however as tradition is with this type of video we will do it once again.
As the title tells us all, the driver Doug Gordon has not sustained any injuries during this crash, and that is the most important thing when it comes to this type of video that covers horrific crashes like these.
One of the biggest problems with this type of crash is the fact that it occurred nearly at the finish line after these Top Alcohol Funny cars, have been accelerating for a few seconds, and a few seconds is all these machines need to get to a dangerous speed.
The other important part is although the shell flew off and the chassis sustained huge amounts of damage after the car landed upside down on top of the wall, the roll bar remained intact and provided the much-needed protection for the driver while the car slid to a stop.
Since the roll bar managed to absorb all the “bad” energy, the driver was able to get out of that race car uninjured and live to build a brand new car, because the chassis of that one does not seem like the best place to start, after that vicious crash.
This video is once again a reminder to always use the safety gear intended for the vehicle and keep the races on the track where they belong, because if the car did not land on that wall, who knew what it could have hit and what kind of damage it could have sustained.
