RedRum, the little red truck that became an icon in the world of street racing, has a story that has never been told until now. The team at 405 Photo, an automotive media group, has finally decided to reveal the secrets and stories behind the truck that has been a topic of conversation for years.

For those who haven’t heard of RedRum before, it was a red 2017 GMC truck that Ryan purchased from a friend who specializes in buying up damaged cars and fixing them up.

The story of RedRum begins with a hurricane that hit Houston in 2018, wiping out a GMC dealership. While most of the vehicles outside the showroom were destroyed, the ones inside remained intact. The insurance company declared all the vehicles a total loss, including a brand new, never-driven GMC Sierra SLT that caught the eye of Ryan, the owner of 405 Photo.

The truck had a bone-stock SLT configuration and had never been driven before. Ryan had big plans for the truck, hoping to transform it into a daily driver with over 1000 horsepower. With Ricky’s help, they worked on the truck, gradually modifying it and adding power. They installed a 4080 transmission, and before long, the truck was pushing out 1300 horsepower, making it a serious contender on the streets and on the track.

RedRum quickly became a favorite of Ryan and Ricky’s followers, who eagerly followed the truck’s progress and watched as it was put to the test. It was featured on the 405 show, and Ryan even took it on a 100-mile cruise during a toy drive.

However, all good things must come to an end, and eventually, RedRum met its demise. After being driven hard for thousands of miles, the truck’s engine finally gave out, and it was time to say goodbye to RedRum. But the truck’s legacy lives on, and it remains a testament to Ryan and Ricky’s dedication and expertise when it comes to building and racing high-performance vehicles.
