The name is Her Majesty’s New Zealand Ship Otago and we catch up with it while on patrol near Antarctica where it is making sure that poachers are not decimating the Antarctic Toothfish population.
The so called Patagonian Fish have been known to make a great meal and poachers have been destroying their numbers over the past few decades.
As a response, the HMNZS Otago is on patrol trying to deter them from illegally catching their pray.
This means that the vessel has to stay in sector at rough weather and that is not something for the faint of heart, since this is one of the most southern places of the world where there is significant weather creating all sorts of trouble for these guys.
This time they are fighting terrible weather and that means that this Protector-Class offshore patrol vessel, has its hands full trying to stay on its path which is riddled with enormous waves each more devastating than the other.
